AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Two drawings from the 20th century, depicting scenes of everyday life with several people. One of the drawings in the lot bears the inscription Mme Dufy at the bottom left. A work of art to discover for art and drawing enthusiasts. These pencil drawings come from the atelier sale of Mr. Gabriel Fournier, a painter who lived from 1893 to 1963. Gabriel Fournier was trained at the École supérieure d'art de Grenoble in 1908, at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon in 1910, and at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris in 1912. In Montmartre and Montparnasse, he frequented the artists of the École de Paris. He collaborated with Raoul Dufy and worked at La Rotonde where he rubbed shoulders notably with Amedeo Modigliani, Moïse Kisling, Chaïm Soutine and also met Pablo Picasso. He received a contract from Léopold Zborowski and exhibited with Henri Matisse. The lot is accompanied by two books: one on the collaboration between the two artists and another written by Roseline Hierholtz on life in Fontainebleau, as well as various exhibition boards.
