Description from the seller
Table lamp 'Globe' with a bamboo decor
Estimated age: About 40 to 50 years (1970s-1980s)
Materials: Molded or blown amber glass, brass
Style: Hollywood Regency / Asian Influence (Chinoiserie Moderne)
Origin: Probably Italy or France
Historical significance: These lamps illustrate the interior design enthusiasm of the 1970s for stylized oriental motifs and spherical shapes, characteristic of the domestic glamour of the Hollywood Regency era.
The multi-section design recalls ancient armillary spheres, reinterpreted here in a decorative way. These models were often sold in high-end decorating shops during the transitional period from retro style to post-modernism.
The bamboo motif was a symbol of luck and prosperity very popular in Western decorative art of the 20th century.
