Description from the seller
Title: Guard Dog
School: European Impressionist (1991)
Style: Figurative Impressionism / Rural landscape
Technique: Oil on canvas
Circle and artistic influence:
Work linked to the tradition of European impressionist landscape painting of the 20th century, with influences of Mediterranean rural and folkloric painting. The loose brushwork, the atmospheric handling of light, and the preference for a daily outdoor scene recall the evolution of Impressionism toward more figurative and naturalistic formulas. The piece combines a recognizable construction of the landscape with spontaneous execution, especially visible in the vegetation, walls and ground.
Oil painting dated 1991 that represents a tranquil rural scene presided over by a small building with light-colored walls and a red-tiled roof. Beside it unfolds a setting of vegetation, wooden fences and trees with dark trunks, some speckled by small fruits or notes of intense orange color.
In the foreground there is a dog lying on the ground, discreetly integrated into the landscape and symbolically acting as guardian of the property, the element that gives the work its title. The presence of the animal adds a narrative, everyday component to a composition dominated by the serenity of the rural setting.
The palette is organized with ochres, earth tones, subdued greens, grays and whites, contrasted by the warm tones of the tiles and small chromatic accents in the vegetation. The brushwork is visible and tactile, especially on the house walls and the ground, providing texture and a sense of direct execution.
The work appears signed and dated in the lower right corner, with the inscription “J.P. SAXE” and the date “91” clearly visible.
The piece is presented with a dark brown wooden frame, with classic lines and a stepped profile. It includes a wide natural- colored mat or textile marialuisa, bordered internally by a thin gilded mold. The ensemble adds visual depth and a traditional finish appropriate to the landscape character of the painting.
Observations:
The work is framed. As a contemporary-era piece, it may show signs of age, use or minor alterations inherent to the passage of time.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an extra charge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not be responsible for this surcharge.
The courier that must cross the Swiss border can experience much longer delays than usual, so, if possible to speed up the process, we will provide the Customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can release it and thus reach its destination. Experience has shown us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.
The artwork may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
