Description from the seller

This piece is a traditional Japanese hari-gami (papier-mâché) Noh mask, specifically the classic "Ko-omote" (Young Woman) type. It was crafted using the traditional method of layering paper pulp and finished with hand-painted lacquer details; the face bears a gentle, smiling expression with finely rendered features—including the eyebrows, eyes, lips, and teeth—and comes with its original red woven cord, ready for immediate display.
The interior bears the original label, and the mask measures approximately 20 cm in length and 13 cm in width. It shows signs of age, including some localized lacquer loss along the edges, though the main body remains intact and free of cracks. As a vintage piece of Japanese folk art, it is well-suited for display in a Japanese-style tea room or interior setting, as well as for inclusion in a dedicated Noh mask collection.
