Twelve bottles of Domaine Sainte Croix Le Fournas, vintage 2022, in 0.75 L bottles, from Corbières, France.
Description from the seller
12 bottles of Domaine Sainte Croix, Cuvée Le Fournas, 2022.
Nestled in the rocky, wild hills of the Hautes Corbières, Domaine Sainte Croix is located in the commune of Fraïssé des Corbières, a small village in the south of France, at the border between Languedoc and Roussillon, about 20 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea.
Blue-steel limestone, quartz-rich clays, and green- and purple-hued schist compose the 13 hectares of a complex terroir.
These vines benefit from a pronounced mesoclimat in which maritime influences mingle with those of the inland countryside, drier and warmer. This yields red, rosé and white wines with strong personality, a blend of concentration and elegance.
There are many similarities with nearby Roussillon (a valley further south). In this terroir, the local patois traces its origins more to Occitan than to French. Grenache is well regarded there for a long time; today, these same vines are grown sheltered by its old walls of golden stones, bordered by fig trees, almond trees and cherry trees.
Dense, cherry-red in hue.
Aromas of blackcurrant, dark leaves, prune, raspberry and currant.
On the palate, blackcurrant, dark fruits, prune accompany a fine freshness, melted tannins, a mineral note evoking flint, and a very long, aromatic finish.
