Alexej von Assaulenko (1913–1989) signed landscape painting Bäume am See, an original oil on thin cardboard (unframed) from 1985 in Germany, 32 × 24 cm, in need of restoration.
Description from the seller
Alexej von Assaulenko (1913-1989) was a Ukrainian painter who fled to Germany at the end of World War II and lived in Plön (Schleswig-Holstein) until his death. There his estate is managed by the Alexej von Assaulenko-Culture Foundation. Other paintings are held by the Rheine Museum Foundation. - see Wikipedia entry for "Alexej von Assaulenko" -
The signature "A.v.A" with the presumed year indication "85" (i.e. 1985) is located at the lower left.
The work offered here (32 x 24 cm) is an unframed oil painting on thin, slightly warped cardboard. The picture was apparently glued behind a mat, as the edges show minor discoloration or wear in places (max. depth 8 mm) at some spots. - see photos - A professional cleaning and a new framing behind a mat would restore the painting to its full display.
The painting comes from a private estate in Plön. No documentation (expert opinion, certificates or similar) is available.
The painting will be shipped in a sturdy envelope to prevent creasing or other damage.
