LAURENTII BELLINI OPUSCULA PRACTICA DE URINA, PULSU, SANGUINIS MISSIONE ET FEBRIBUS
Not less on diseases of the head and chest. With the preface of Johann Bohnius, medical doctor and renowned professor at Leipzig. Third corrected edition, to which is added a most ample index.

MDCCXVIII (1718).
A quarto volume bound in full brown calf of the period, spine with raised bands ornamented with gilt compartments and fleurs-de-lis, title piece in maroquin bearing the inscription "BELLINI / DE / URINA". Wears and losses to the binding. Boards split. Overall good condition.
The interior shows careful printing on laid paper, opening with a title page in red and black with a typographic fleur-de-lis, a text divided into thematic parts (such as De Urinis and De Sanguinis Missione) and enriched with ornate initials. Interior well preserved, paper soiled. Sporadic damp-stains.
Lorenzo Bellini (1643–1704), a great anatomist and physician of the Italian school of Pisa, was one of the pioneers of iatromathematics, seeking to explain the functions of the human body and medical semiology (the analysis of urine and pulsations) through the laws of physics, mechanics, and hydraulics.
