Inspired by classical religious iconography and the world of street art, Urban Jesus offers a contemporary reinterpretation of one of the most emblematic figures in art history.
At the heart of a composition evoking an ancient religious edifice with classical columns, Jesus appears from behind, surrounded by four worshippers. In front of them, his first name stands out in monumental pink letters, reminiscent of graffiti sprayed on an architectural facade. This unexpected meeting between sacred tradition and urban culture transforms this place steeped in history into a space for contemporary expression, where spirituality dialogues with the codes of street art.

Technique
Each drawing starts with an almost imperceptible imprint, made with a round nib. This first reference helps me prepare the composition while preserving the whiteness of the paper.
Next comes the blue Bic ballpoint pen. The curved, spontaneous, and interwoven lines accumulate and overlay to progressively give birth to shapes, volumes and contrasts. The density of the strokes builds the shadows and reveals the drawing’s depth, while the white spaces preserve light and balance in the composition.
In this work, pink acrylic paint introduces a deliberate chromatic rupture, drawing the eye to the central lettering. This contrast between the pen’s blue and the intensity of the color strengthens the dialogue between tradition and modernity.
The line reprises may reveal small ink dots, witnesses of the manual gesture and an integral part of the artwork.
It is in this meeting between precision and spontaneity that my work expresses itself: a controlled construction, carried by the freedom of the stroke.
