Ferney (XX) - Forêt de Fontainebleau

A mid to late 19th c oil on canvas of the forest at Fontainbleau signed by plein aire Barbizon School artist FERNEY whose impasto rendition serves to heighten the play of light among the trees. Insignificant paint loss where the strainer frame has rubbed the canvas. The canvas is a good size and in excellent condition, the work only needing the benefit of a sympathetic frame.
