Venise éternelle, an original oil painting by Michel Suret-Canale (France), 2026, in neo-impressionism, 55 × 75 cm, about 3 kg, depicting a Venetian landscape in orange tones; signed on the front and back, in excellent condition with an authenticity certificate.
Description from the seller
This painting of Venice is a work born of memory and imagination.
I have sketched a great deal in Venice over the years, in summer, winter, and spring. These stays, these strolls, and the hours spent observing the city have gradually formed a kind of inner memory of the place.
Today, I no longer need to work from a precise photograph to return there: the painting allows me to find Venice whenever I wish, but also to recreate it freely, as it remains in my memory and as my imagination transforms it.
So this is not about faithfully reproducing a documentary view, but about conveying an atmosphere: that of light on the water, of the façades, of the reflections, of this architecture so particular that seems to oscillate continuously between reality and appearance.
The work is realized in oil on canvas, 55 × 75 cm. The texture is built up by layers of glazes and veils, to which are added, in places, knife interventions creating impastos and more vigorous accents.
This alternation between transparency and matter allows the light to vibrate and gives the painted surface its depth.
An entirely original painting, handmade, born of a personal experience of Venice and of a pictorial recomposition effort rather than mechanical reproduction of an image.
The photograph showing the work in an interior is a preview produced via AI, provided only to set the scene. The work itself is entirely painted by hand.
Original work, signed on the front and back.
Sold with its certificate of authenticity signed.
