Die Pest in Bergamo by Jens Peter Jacobsen and Alois Kolb, translated by Leo Johannes Feddersen, is a limited, numbered 1922 edition (no. 214) of 54 pages, bound in half vellum, with 11 etchings by Kolb, published by Avalun Verlag in Wien/Leipzig, and hand-signed by the artist in excellent condition.

This is no. 214, hand-signed by the artist.
Small folio (30.5 × 23.5 cm), half parchment
The original engravings were printed under the artist’s supervision on a hand press at the State Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Publishing in Leipzig.
The layout and the printing of the text were executed in Walbaum-Antiqua type on handmade paper, under the direction of Professor Georg A. Mather in the laboratories of the State Academy. The binding was handmade in H. Sperling’s atelier in Leipzig.
Excellent condition.
Alois Kolb (1875-1942) was a great engraver of the Art Deco period. In the 1922 edition of Die Pest in Bergamo, his engravings are not mere illustrations, but original works of graphic art.
