Moveable book consisting of six full-page color chromolithographs, animated by 2 to 3 mechanisms per scene operated by pull tabs, and illustrations in black within the text.

Each plate features animals in situations typical of human beings: an elephant on the telephone in "Hello Hello", cats at school in "the reading lesson", a donkey painter in "an original artist", two dogs in "the billiard game", a monkey and a goat performing "the singing lesson", and finally the calf and the foal at the "dentist".

Functional mechanisms; the articulated legs of Mr. Duveau are missing on the last plate.

Corner bump, missing at the lower corner of the title page, small tears along the margins of some pages.
