Description from the seller
SEIKO DOLCE VINTAGE: A QUARTZ WATCH WITH A SMOOTH SWEEPING SECOND HAND
This Seiko Dolce is an elegant, two-tone dress watch with a rare and immediately striking feature: instead of moving in jerky 'tick-tock' steps, the seconds hand glides (with a sweeping effect) in a smooth motion across the dial. Powered by the Seiko 5S21 quartz movement – which ensures a continuous run – this watch mimics the smooth motion of a mechanical automatic watch. The watch, produced around 1990, has a round stainless steel case with gold accents and looks beautiful on both a man's and a woman's wrist. It is a timepiece with real character for the demanding collector.
The heart of this Seiko is also its most distinctive feature: the caliber 5S21, a quartz movement with a smoothly sweeping seconds hand, developed by Seiko in the late 1980s. Where a traditional quartz movement jumps in one-second steps, the 5S21 translates this action into a seamless, flowing movement thanks to a spiral spring and a viscous regulator. The illusion on the wrist is complete; one would swear it is a mechanical watch. This rare caliber, produced in limited quantities and today highly sought after, testifies to the development process that ultimately led Seiko to the Spring Drive technology.
The watch shows scratches from age. The brass can be professionally rechecked and serviced if desired.
