Description from the seller
Terracotta Satyr study with patinated finish – 20 cm high
An interesting sculptural study depicting a Satyr, made in terracotta and characterized by an intense dark brown patina with an almost bronze-like effect.
The subject is rendered with strong expressiveness: the face animated, the gaze defined, pointed ears, small horns, and the lively hair convey fully the dionysian and instinctive character typical of the Satyr figure in classical tradition.
The modeling is lively and tactile, with evident traces of manual work that give the piece the immediate and spontaneous character proper to a study. The facial expression is particularly effective, achieved through a controlled distortion of features and energetic modeling.
The surface shows a dark brown-black patina with light abrasions and exposures of the natural terracotta color, elements that contribute to the charm and character of the object.
Material: terracotta
Subject: Satyr
Dimensions: approximately 20 × 18 × 10 cm
Color/patina: dark brown, bronzed effect
Conditions: consistent with the nature, workmanship and conservation of the work; please carefully observe the photographs, part of the description."} } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } }
