Impressive Portuguese ceremonial chair, made in warm-toned wood, probably walnut, with an exceptionally tall backrest and richly carved.
The upholstered backrest presents a wavy contour, topped by an exuberant pierced pediment with acanthus leaves, volutes and vegetal motifs. The contoured waist is ornamented with a central shell and scrolls, extending into curved front legs ending in expressive paw feet.
