Favia 'Cerro Sur' 2021, Napa Valley, United States, 0.75 L bottles, 3 bottles.
Description from the seller
Favia is a wine producer founded in 2003 and based in Coombsville, just to the east of the city of Napa. It produceds red wines from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The business is owned and run by couple Andy Erickson and Annie Favia. The former is in charge of winemaking while the latter is viticulturalist. Erickson's CV features stints with Screaming Eagle, Ovid and Dalla Valle; Favia's includes Kongsgaard, Corison and Abreu.
The estate began with an acre of Sauvignon Blanc planted alongside fruit trees and vegetable plots on the couple's first home property in Coombesville. Later, the 6.5-acre (2.6ha) Carbone property on Coombesville Road became available, leading to the current form of Favia Winery. Erickson and Favia now live there above the barrel room.
The Cerro Sur Red wine is described as the ultimate expression of Coombesville and of Erickson and Favia's favorite variety. Cabernet Franc is sourced from Rancho Chimiles high in the mountains to the east of Coombesville. Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for around 30 percent of the blend, which spends 22 months ageing in French oak, with 50 percent new wood.
La Magdalena is a combination of the same varieties, sourced from the famed Oakville Ranch. The lineup also includes varietal Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings from Oakville and from Coombesville. In exceptional vintages an untitled red wine is made from the best barrel of each of the two varieties.
