Japanese Wajima Nuri Wooden Tea Caddy (Chazutsu), crafted by the renowned master Yoneimoto Shōhaku from Ishikawa Prefecture. Comes with original paulownia tomobako storage box and the artist’s biography certificate.
Master Yoneimoto Shōhaku is a leading lacquer artist of Wajima, the most celebrated school of Japanese lacquerware, often regarded as national treasure-level craft. He has won numerous awards at Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibitions.
This chazutsu is built with solid wood base, coated with glossy black urushi lacquer. The exquisite gold makie depicts pine cones with finely piled gold powder, showing rich, layered metallic luster. Pine motif symbolizes longevity and auspiciousness, a timeless classic in Japanese tea ceremony.
The vessel has a smooth, rounded shape with comfortable hand feel. Preserved in excellent condition.
