For sale is a decorative ensemble of two wooden works from Sri Lanka, consisting of a hand-carved Buddha figure and a painted wooden panel.
The Buddha figure shows Buddha in a seated meditation pose with hands in Dhyana Mudra. The face with closed eyes, long earlobes, the finely structured hair, and the numerous incised folds of the robe are carefully worked. The figure was carved from light hardwood and subsequently stained dark or black. Through abrasion and age-related signs of wear, the natural light brown color of the wood appears at various spots.
