Description from the seller
ABOUT THE PAINTING:
“Pioneers” draws inspiration from the human figures depicted on the Pioneer spacecraft plaques — a message from humanity sent into space. The man’s raised hand becomes a gesture of greeting towards the unknown.
Surrounded by intricate blue and turquoise patterns, celestial forms and flying saucers, the two figures evoke both the first humans and travellers entering an unfamiliar world. The painting brings together curiosity, vulnerability and the desire to make contact, inviting reflection on how we present ourselves to the universe.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I am Paulius, an independent artist exploring human nature, spirituality and our relationship with the world through painting, performance, installations and interdisciplinary projects.
I live and work surrounded by nature, with my studio in the centre of the Vepriai meteorite crater in Lithuania. The landscape, its geological history and its connection to the cosmos influence my creative practice. My work brings together spiritual exploration and social themes, inviting viewers to form their own interpretations.
I hold a Master’s degree in Arts and was granted official artist status by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania in 2014. I have presented over 60 solo exhibitions, installations and performances, and participated in more than 70 group exhibitions, plein-air events and collaborative projects with Lithuanian and international artists.
