Venus - XL PAINTING, a 2026 original oil painting from Italy by M VACCARO (1959) in Baroque style, depicting a portrait and measuring 150 x 100 cm.
Description from the seller
“Venere” presents a monumental interpretation of the classical female figure, inspired by the enduring visual language of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. The figure stands in a poised contrapposto, her serene expression and idealised proportions contrasted by the weathered, fragmentary appearance of the sculptural form. The richly modelled drapery falls around the lower body in elaborate folds, while the dark background isolates the figure and gives it an almost museum-like presence.
M Vaccaro approaches the classical subject through the language of painting, carefully reproducing the texture, patina and subtle imperfections associated with an aged marble sculpture. Warm ivory, ochre and muted brown tones are brought forward through dramatic chiaroscuro, creating a strong contrast between the illuminated figure and the surrounding darkness. The result is a contemporary figurative painting that reflects on beauty, antiquity and the passage of time, transforming a familiar classical ideal into a striking painted image.
The painting is offered rolled.
