Description from the seller
This bronze crucifix from the late 20th century is set in an aesthetic clearly inspired by the imaginative universe of Salvador Dalí, where traditional religious iconography is reinterpreted through organic, dreamlike, and deeply expressive forms. The cross abandons conventional geometry to become an almost biomorphic structure, composed of an intricate network of irregular lines, voids, and prolongations that evoke roots, branches, or coral formations arising from a surreal dream.
In the center is placed the figure of the crucified Christ, modeled in a more naturalistic and recognizable way than the support surrounding it. The body appears stylized, with an elongated anatomy that contrasts with the complex abstract lattice of the cross, creating a powerful focal point. From behind the head emerge several metallic rays that replace the traditional halo with a luminous irradiation of almost cosmic character, a device very akin to the mystic and transcendent symbolism cultivated by Dalí in his works with religious themes.
The surface of the bronze presents a warm golden finish, whose highlights emphasize the textured and irregular reliefs of the piece. The interplay between compact areas and large empty spaces gives the piece notable visual lightness, making the cross seem to expand organically into space, as if it were in constant transformation.
The composition transmits a sense of visionary spirituality, far from classical devotional representation. The cross here becomes an almost architectural construction of surrealist inspiration, where suffering, transcendence, and fantasy converge in a work of strong sculptural personality. Its avant-garde character, together with the nobility of bronze and the influence of the Dalinian imagination, makes it a decorative and religious piece of great visual impact, especially suitable for contemporary interiors or collections oriented toward modern sacred art and the surrealist currents of the 20th century.
