Detailed description:
For auction is a highly atmospheric oil painting depicting a classic floral still life. At the centre of the work is a lush bouquet of vivid yellow roses, arranged in an elegant, slim dark vase.
Notably, the masterful impasto technique (thick, textured brushstrokes) employed by the artist is highlighted here. The petals of the roses are applied with thick, three-dimensional brushstrokes and possibly with the use of a palette knife. This gives the flowers a wonderful, three-dimensional structure and vitality that capture light in an impressive way. The warm, buttery yellows and whites of the roses form a strong, dramatic contrast to the calm background held in earthy olive and brown tones.
The painting is signed bottom right in yellow.
Condition:
The painting (the canvas and the paint) is in very good, well-kept condition with strong, vivid colors. The canvas is properly stretched onto a wooden stretcher.
Frame:
The artwork is delivered in a magnificent gold-toned ornate frame with elaborate floral corner and central ornaments in Baroque/Rococo style. The frame excellently enhances the classical character of the painting. Note on frame condition: The frame shows slight, age-related signs of wear (small scratches or scuffs), which do not diminish the overall positive impression. (Please note: The frame is supplied as a free bonus with the painting).
Shipping:
The painting will be carefully and professionally packaged and shipped insured with tracking.
