China, 20th century, original cast bronze statue of the infant Buddha (Siddhartha), height 14.5 cm, width 6 cm, depth 3.4 cm, weight 689 g, in good condition with a missing finger on the left hand and minor surface wear.
Description from the seller
Cast bronze standing figure of the infant Buddha (Siddhartha). The young Buddha stands upright on an integral rectangular bronze plinth. His right arm is raised upward in a clenched fist; his left arm hangs down, hand pointing towards the ground. He wears an ornate decorated apron with floral chasing work across the chest and abdomen, tied with a sash at the back waist. The face has gentle, rounded features, large ears and a calm, slight smile. The bronze surface has an aged dark patina, with minor scattered surface wear and faint verdigris.
Condition Report:
Overall form is complete. One finger on the left pointing hand is missing (loss). No other breaks, splits or major repairs. Minor old surface scratches, wear and small patches of verdigris consistent with age. The rectangular base remains intact, with abrasion to the base underside from historic standing wear. Casting shows hand-finished details typical of traditional bronze work.
