Beautiful Baluch Afghan rug, 198 x 125 cm, with very thick wool that shines brilliantly in sunlight and wonderful colors, particularly the traditional tones of blue and red. Noteworthy is the beautiful midnight blue of the wool, which in sunlight shines and glitter, and the red that forms the background of the central field. The field is richly decorated with small floral motifs and two splendid medallions, which also show stylized animal figures and stars. The four borders also deserve attention: two with floral motifs, one with traditional motifs, and the outermost with a geometric design reminiscent of leaves. Overall a beautiful rug, 100% wool, dyed exclusively with organic dyes. An exemplar of first quality among the Baluch, made in a more recent era (roughly the 1980s or 1990s). Excellent condition: no insect damage, no rigidity of the fabric, and no odor of smoke or animals. Clean.
