Bruno Fert, Village Bedouin d'Al Fa ara jourdain 2009, a 2009 C‑Print documentary photograph measuring 24 × 30 cm, signed by hand and sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
In 1948, the creation of the Hebrew state triggered the first Arab-Israeli war and the exodus of more than 700,000 Palestinians to neighboring countries. What remains today of their towns and villages emptied of their inhabitants? It is to answer this question that I went to Israel: to find and photograph the vestiges of these ghost localities disappeared in the swirl of the 48 war. This report is a journey through time; a visual odyssey to the origins of the refugee issue. These images are a testimony to a key moment in the region's history whose consequences are today at the heart of our current events.
Bruno Fert — Documentary photographer
Bruno Fert develops a deeply humanist body of work devoted to exile, to migrations and the traversed territories. From disappeared Palestinian villages to the precarious shelters of migrants, he photographs less the event than its traces. With Passages, he continues this work on the roads of exile, revealing in the landscapes the marks left by those who try to reach Europe. A precise and silent photography, where the landscape becomes bearer of memory.
