Description from the seller
Not your doll - 45 (n.755)
The measurements are:
- collage: 50,00 x 40,00 cm
Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas
I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash.
In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest works created.
On these scraps of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there.
Often this happens when we truly approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.
"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do with me whatever you want" with everything that is behind, up to, unfortunately, violence.
The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, feel it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust.

Born in 1974 I am self-taught.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long halt lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for time and space reasons, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but in the last period I am pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.
For me painting is "freezing time" at that exact moment; my painting is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that - over time - grow on the surface.
Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs well perceptible to touch and to the naked eye.
In this recent period, after several years in which my works were made from scraps of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical rigor that up close seem to form an abstract colorful painting but the farther you go the more a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not the dolls of their partners and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
