Philbert Guibert [Guybert]
Le Prix et Valeur des Medicaments tant simples que composez, desquels on se sert é la medecine Derniere edition
Paris: Jean Jost, 1632. Revised edition.
A catalogue of medicines by Guibert, produced as part of his work "Œuvres charitables".
Pages 130–216 with its own title page, it was removed from a collected Œuvres charitables (Paris, Jost, 1632), in which each part had its own title. Complete in itself.
After a brief introduction, the work is essentially a list of medicines with a little text about each one. First gather is detached, the rest of the text block holding together. Held in a green paper cover. The pages are slightly darkened, but clean.
140 x 80 mm (5½ x 3¼ inches).
This was a published list of what remedies should cost written by a Paris doctor so that patients and their families would know when an apothecary was overcharging them
The Œuvres charitables were reprinted at least sixty times between 1623 and 1679,
They were translated into English as The Charitable Physitian (1639) and used by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in their care for the sick poor.

We are professional booksellers based in France, and have been members of ILAB for many years. We currently hold full membership of SLAM, as well as other organisations. We also sell at fairs and markets across Europe.
We are often found at brocantes and marches, searching for books and prints. We are also always interested in acquiring new stock from individuals, so if you have books or prints to sell, do get in touch.
We are proud to purchase biodegradable packaging and materials. Where possible, all of our book wrap and tape are compostable or re-cyclable. If you do receive any plastic bubble wrap from us - it is because we are re-using items we have received.
