- Historical data and edition: -

This famous edition, printed by the Paperini heirs in Florence between 1753 and 1757 in a total work of 10 volumes, was financed directly by Carlo Goldoni himself. The print run was about 1,700–1,750 copies per volume, a substantial quantity for the era that was entirely exhausted in a short time thanks to subscription sales at competitive prices. A portion of these copies was also distributed semi-clandestinely in Venice, where the rival publisher Bettinelli held the exclusive rights.
