David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A fresh reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary re-reading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic constructed from thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth treatment is applied to colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear hanger. Printed on luminous white vinyl, double-mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book, and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
