Description from the seller
Rare copy of “The Complete Spider-Man No. 1”, published by Marvel UK on 5 December 1990, with a cover price of £1.75 and issued monthly.
The comic features a selection of stories from several Spider-Man series, including Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Web of Spider-Man. The opening story, Torment, is by Todd McFarlane and is one of the issue’s main points of interest.
This copy comprises 100 pages and retains the rare embroidered spider-symbol patch, still attached to the cover with the original adhesive tape. The presence of the patch, still affixed as originally issued, makes this copy particularly appealing to collectors and Marvel memorabilia enthusiasts.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they provide a detailed representation of the item’s actual condition and form an integral part of this description.
Condition
The comic is complete and readable, but shows several signs of wear. It should be considered in fair to good condition, with defects, as documented in the photographs:
- Page edges and paper are visibly yellowed due to age.
- General cover wear, with scuffing and marks along the edges.
- Compression damage to the lower corner of the spine.
- The lower right corner of the cover and first page is damaged, with a portion of the paper corner missing.
- The cover paper around the staples has slightly given way.
- Small marks and surface imperfections consistent with the comic’s age and storage history.
Collector’s note
This is an uncommon issue with high market valuations, whose main element of rarity is the original patch still attached to the cover. Its condition should not be considered near mint, and the defects described above are an integral part of the item’s assessment. It is therefore offered as a collectible item with evident signs of age and handling, but complete with its distinctive original promotional patch.
