Description from the seller
History of the French Revolution by Louis Blanc adorned with 600 full-page engravings and in-text, executed by the Elite of Artists on the Drawings of Mr. H. de la Charlerie - Complete in 2 Volumes - Paris, Docks de la Librairie Typographie Lahure, undated but reference of 1866 in the preface - Facsimile of Louis Blanc's letter sent to Maurice Lachâtre and dated 1865 where he summarizes his method: great figures do not derive their strength from themselves, but from the "environment surrounding them" and the collective life of the people - Monumental and splendid edition, which analyzes the period from 1789 to 18 Brumaire (1799) through the prism of republican socialism and collective history - For Louis Blanc, the French Revolution is the expression of a deep movement of the masses toward fraternity and equality, not merely a political accident or a destructive frenzy - Format Grand in-4° (31.5 x 25 cm) - Red half-calf bindings, red pebbled boards, spine with raised bands with title, author's name and tomes in gold and adorned with gold tooling, marbled endpapers and guards, 716 and 775 pages - Table of contents: see Photos - Very beautiful copies - The general condition is good, nevertheless, given its age, some small signs of wear appear, but nothing very serious. The spine hinges are rubbed, but the interiors are fresh and the gatherings are firmly attached - I invite you to examine all the photos, which are more explicit than my comments -
