Description from the seller
Alex Claude — From the subjective landscape to the mapping of the sensitive
Between figuration and abstraction, Alex Claude explores the landscape as a space of perception and memory. His imaginary landscapes, as much psychic as physical, oscillate between contemplative silence and tumultuous energy. They invite the viewer to a sensory experience where each person projects their own emotions and memories.
A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris with honors from the jury, he develops painting grounded in gesture, memory, and inner experience. Without preparatory drawing or photographic models, he brings landscapes to life through superpositions, scratching, erasures, and transparencies. The material becomes the site of a tension between appearance and disappearance, between scarred lands and a lost Eden.
Present in the collections of the BnF and of several museums in France and abroad, Alex Claude regularly exhibits in galleries and institutions. His work offers a profoundly subjective vision of the landscape, where painting does not seek so much to represent the world as to reveal its inner resonances.
