Description from the seller

Jean Le Gall (1969)
Born in Quimper in 1969, Jean Le Gall is a French artist trained at the Penninghen School in Paris. After his studies, he quickly oriented himself toward interior design and developed an eclectic activity at the crossroads of visual arts and performing arts. He regularly collaborates with theater, cinema, television, and the world of music, for which he imagines and creates numerous painted sets.
Endowed with a remarkable facility for reproducing contemporary works, Jean Le Gall possesses great technical mastery that allows him to respond to very varied projects. He can thus recreate with high precision compositions, motifs, and visual universes intended to fit into sets, stages, or singular spaces.
His work is nourished by the influence of artists such as Sol LeWitt, Peter Halley, and Simone Decker, as well as by his deep interest in geometric abstraction. At the end of the 1980s, a conference followed by a meeting with Victor Vasarely also marked a turning point in his career. He then discovered Op Art and became passionate about perception tricks, depth effects, chromatic vibrations, and visual illusions.
Today, Jean Le Gall revisits old canvases, long considered only through the prism of decoration. He gives them a new existence and a renewed reading, transforming these works into spaces for pictorial research. Through his work, he seeks to reveal what was already present in these canvases while infusing them with a more personal, contemporary, and artistic dimension.
This approach constitutes for him a true renaissance: that of works that, after having accompanied decors and stories, are now becoming full-fledged pieces.
