Provenance: Private collection

Description
“Stream Run in Mirror Light” from 1949 depicts a quiet, wintry river landscape, one of Hermann Fischer-Roloff’s characteristic natural motifs. The narrow stream, the bare trees, and the delicate reflections in the water create a calm, almost contemplative atmosphere. The tempera technique gives the work a matte, velvety surface and underlines the clear, restrained visual language that is typical of Fischer-Roloff.

The painting is clearly signed on the front, bottom right, which further confirms its authenticity. On the back there is also the handwritten designation “Stream Run in Mirror Light 1949.”

The work is presented in a high-quality, period-typical frame that harmonizes color and style exceptionally well with the painting. The frame superbly complements the calm, nature-oriented mood of the image.

Notably, the painting is framed under original glass. This glass has protected the sensitive tempera painting for decades, so the work is now exceptionally well preserved. Both the painting and the frame show hardly any signs of aging, which significantly increases its appeal.
