This extraordinary, lavish, large-format representation of Saint Christopher with the Christ Child is presented as a masterfully carved wooden sculpture from Oberammergau.
With a height of approximately 64 cm, the sculpture possesses an exceptionally monumental and representative effect. The dynamic depiction of Christopher carrying the Christ Child on his shoulders, the imposing staff, and the elaborately designed garments give the figure an extraordinary presence.
Masterful carving
Of particular note is the exceptionally fine and detailed carving. The face, hair and beard of Christopher, hands and feet, as well as the numerous folds and drapery of the garments are carved with great precision in plastic form.
The Christ Child is also fully three-dimensionally modeled and finely crafted. The entire composition impresses with its high craftsmanship, pronounced plasticity, and lively design.
