Haan met kippen, an oil on canvas painting attributed to Henry Schouten, Belgium, dated 1900–1910, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Henry Schouten (also listed as Henri Schouten) (Indonesia, about 1857 - Brussels, 1927) was a Belgian painter best known as an animal and landscape painter.
He received his training at the Brussels Academy (1876-1881). He was strongly influenced by the animal painter Alfred Verwee.
He was primarily a fluent naturalistic animal painter: cows, sheep, horses, poultry runs and animals in the courtyard. But he also painted peasants and shepherds in their surroundings, a hunter with dogs, a drinking horse-seller, or a milkmaid with a dog cart. He also painted a number of still lifes with flowers or game and fruit, or a still-life with fish and shrimp.
He began exhibiting in Brussels with the Union des Arts from 1882.
Oil on canvas, canvas size 97x68 cm. Painting in good condition with 1 restoration (see sticker on the back). Supplied with the original antique frame in good condition with light signs of use/age. This will be included free of charge with pickup. Will only be shipped on request (additional costs). Due to size, weight and fragility.
Work is carefully packed and shipped internationally by registered mail.
