Art Deco Ring with a large citrine quartz, emerald cut, 18k gold, 1940s
Typology: Ring
Period: 1940s
Mounting material: 18k gold
Main stone: citrine quartz
Total jewelry weight: 13.70 g
Inner diameter: 1.9 cm
Outer diameter: 2.3 cm

Dazzling ring with an 18k yellow gold setting that holds a large emerald-cut citrine quartz. Recently polished in our jewelry workshop to bring out its original shine. Made in the 1940s, a period in jewelry known as post-Art Deco or Retro Modern, a style that stands out for its bold, voluminous, and glamorous look.
This aesthetic arose as a creative response to resource shortages caused by World War II. With platinum unavailable and a steady supply of traditional gemstones scarce, designers transformed necessity into pure industrial art and sophistication. Since platinum was reserved for the war industry, yellow gold took center stage. In the absence of large diamonds, large gemstones from South America were used. Citrine, amethyst, aquamarine, and topaz became the stars of the era.
The citrine quartz, large in size, is the undisputed centerpiece. The emerald cut highlights the stone’s clarity, golden tone, and depth. In the 1940s, stones of this size became Hollywood favorites to bring light and opulence. It retains the geometric, clean, and industrial lines that still recall Art Deco, but combined with the robustness and three-dimensional volume typical of the next decade. A technical detail is that the shank, or metal band, splits into two parallel bands as it approaches the base of the finger. This structural feature was used to give greater stability to rings with such heavy stones, preventing them from tilting to the sides.
This type of jewelry was originally designed to attract attention at social parties and major nighttime events of the mid-20th century. It is a piece with a strong presence, history, and character. Ideal as an engagement ring or a very special gift.
The shipment of the product will be paid by the buyer according to the dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include professional, tailor-made packaging; and the shipment, with tracking number and warranty.
