Jos Lussenburg (1889-1975)

He is best known for paintings of life on and around the Zuiderzee. Lussenburg comes across in his paintings as a passionate romantic. From his youth in Enkhuizen he felt connected to the former Zuiderzee. The grey skies, the foaming waves, the stelters and herring busses, the sturdy sailors who keep the vessel on course on the tempestuous sea, reflect a longing for a vanished sea. His work reveals not only his engagement with the former Zuiderzee and the fishing life.

Oil on canvas, 60 x 80 cm. The painting is fully signed 'Jos Lussenburg' and dated '57; varnish slightly yellowed and could use a refresh. The frame is in good condition with minor signs of wear; it is included with the work free of charge within the EU. Outside the EU, due to size and fragility, not included.

The work is carefully packaged and shipped internationally by registered mail.

Het meest bekend is Lussenburg geworden met schilderijen van het leven op en rond de Zuiderzee. Lussenburg laat zich door zijn schilderijen kennen als een bevlogen romanticus. Vanuit zijn jeugd in Enkhuizen voelde hij zich verbonden met de voormalige Zuiderzee. De grijze luchten, de schuimende golven, de tjalken en botters, de stoere zeemannen die het schip op de onstuimige zee op koers houden, geven een verlangen weer naar een verdwenen zee. Uit zijn werk spreekt niet alleen zijn betrokkenheid met de vroegere Zuiderzee en het visserijbestaan.

Olieverf op doek 60X80CM. Schilderij is voluit gesigneerd 'Jos Lussenburg' en gedateerd '57 staat: vernis iets wat vergeeld kan een opfrisbeurt gebruiken. Lijst is in goede staat met kleine gebruikssporen, deze wordt gratis met het werk meegeleverd binnen de EU. Daarbuiten zonder door grootte en kwetsbaarheid.
