Antique silver watch chain with a T-bar, sliding elements and a hollow horse head pendant, dating to ca. 1893–1905, total length about 31 cm, weight 17.995 g, in used antique condition with visible wear; no laboratory report.
Description from the seller
A distinctive antique silver watch chain with a T-bar, slider elements, and a decorative horse head.
The chain consists of several finely braided silver strands, alternating with two cylindrical slider elements.
At one end there is a classic T-bar intended to attach the chain to a waistcoat or garment. At the other end there is a threaded closure on a short link chain, together with a hollow silver horse head as a pendant.
On several parts the Dutch wolf mark is present. This was a Dutch tax/import hallmark for foreign silver and was used from 1893 to 1905. The chain was therefore imported into the Netherlands during this period. A maker or exact country of origin could not be determined.
The chain is in clearly used antique condition and shows various age- and wear-related marks. One of the two slider elements has a clear dent. Both slider elements no longer hold firmly in a chosen position. Some sections of the braided chain have also become stiff and certain links can no longer move freely. The horse head has some small dents and surface marks. These points are visible in the photos and are part of the current condition of the piece.
