Description from the seller
Artwork n.648
Dimensions: 85,00 x 85,00 (cm)
I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have realized.
"Not your doll" - "Not my doll" is a series where I intend to depict the faces of women with features reminiscent of classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a true doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do whatever you want to me" with everything that lies behind it, which unfortunately leads to violence.

It is recommended to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise you on a possible and adequate frame.
Images showing the work in indoor environments are for illustrative purposes only and proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description.

Born in 1974 I am self-taught.
After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long pause of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, giving up sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real.
For me painting is to "freeze time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes my paintings depict street views of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface.
The passage of time is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceptible by touch as well as to the naked eye.
In this recent period, after several years during which my works were made from little bits of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical-Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical rigor which, viewed up close, seem to form a colored abstract painting but the farther you go the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce women’s faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
