Description from the seller
Armand Meffre (1929–2009) French actor and painter.
- Spring 1999
A emblematic actor of theater and cinema, Armand Meffre acted under the direction of major filmmakers alongside Philippe Noiret, Jean Rochefort or Gérard Depardieu.
Trained in painting with the master André Lhote, he developed a sensitive, luminous and deeply human body of work. His canvases, imbued with tenderness and poetry, reveal a profoundly human gaze, between restrained emotion and sincere simplicity. A complete artist, each painting tells a story and moves with its authenticity.
A very talented artist with significant results in public sales. Participates in major international art fairs in the United States, China and Europe.
- La Gare de Robion n°1 1983 - signed bottom left, dated and titled on the verso, original work, oil on marouflaged canvas, 50x65 cm, mounted on a wooden stretcher. The theme of Robion and its railway station is dear to the artist; it marked for him the symbol of a departure towards Paris where his artistic career began and made him famous.
The works are widely represented in galleries and private museums in Russia, Italy, the USA, the United Kingdom and China.
Certificate of authenticity signed by the artist will be delivered to the buyer.
