Description from the seller
This altar cross-candelabrum, made in composite material with an artisanal gold finish, is a piece inspired by historicism conceived for devotional and liturgical settings during the second half of the twentieth century. Its design blends the function of an altar cross with that of a candlestick, integrating both elements into a composition of notable ornamental richness.
The cross features a perforated profile with a highly decorative effect, developed through volutes, scrolls and vegetal motifs that evoke Baroque and Neo-Rococo repertoires. The widened arms articulate around a central floral core, while the open background creates an appealing play of light and shadow that enhances the depth of the ensemble. The surface is enriched by a warm-toned gold applied by hand, with slight variations and wear that add character and authenticity to the piece.
At the bottom lies a small cup or receptacle intended to hold a candle, organically integrated into the shaft of the cross. This element rests on a stepped square base decorated with vegetal reliefs, providing visual and structural stability to the whole. The composition achieves a harmonious balance between verticality, ornamentation and functionality, becoming a piece of special presence for an altar, a domestic chapel, or a space of spiritual retreat.
Due to its evocative aesthetics and its crafted gold finish, this candelabrum cross represents an interesting example of religious decorative production from the second half of the twentieth century, capable of imparting a marked ceremonial and ornamental accent to any sacral- or collector-inspired setting.
