Brandimarte - Drinking service (6) - Cups - Silver - 800 Silver

Set of six 800 silver cups by Brandimarte Firenze with a turned stem, mid-20th century. The interior is vermeil silver. Silver marks incised on the rim. Weight: 697 g.
(The French term vermeil indicates a type of gilded silver. The requirements for this material are a base of sterling silver, coated with gold plating of at least 10 carats and of a thickness of at least 1.5 microns. The chemical affinity between silver and gold gives the plating good resistance properties.
The plating helps avoid issues related to the oxidation of silver. Vermeil, being more expensive than silver, is a material used to make high-quality objects.)
