Description from the seller

A beautifully crafted Japanese Chawan (tea bowl/water basin), accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box), reflecting both authenticity and traditional craftsmanship.

This piece is distinguished by its exquisite Mishima (Mishima-de) technique. The interior features intricate patterns of small flowers and leaves, created by inlaying white slip into the clay surface before glazing. This creates a delicate, lace-like texture that contrasts elegantly with the serene blue-grey exterior glaze.

The wide, open form is perfectly balanced, designed to hold water for the tea ceremony or to serve as a decorative vessel. The glaze has a deep, luminous quality, while the unglazed foot reveals the warm, earthy tone of the fired clay. The presence of a signed tomobako further supports its origin as a preserved studio work.

Condition:
Very good condition, with no cracks or restorations. The intricate inlaid patterns are intact and clearly defined.
Dimensions:
• Diameter: approx. 15 cm
• Height: approx. 6 cm

(Measurements are approximate and provided for reference. Please refer to the photos for further details.)

The item will be carefully packed to ensure safe international delivery, using protective materials and secure packaging methods. Dispatch may take a few days due to handling and postal arrangements in Japan, and your patience is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact me at any time. I will be happy to assist you and ensure a pleasant transaction.
