Description from the seller
Elio Lazzari (Venice, 1942) is one of the most renowned contemporary Venetian painters, admired for his evocative views of the lagoon and daily Venetian life. Described by critics as "one of the last great Venetian vedutists," he has exhibited in important Italian and international venues, including New York, Washington, and Luxembourg. His works are present in numerous private collections and stand as an authentic testimony to the Venetian painting tradition.
Suggestive Venetian view by maestro Elio Lazzari, an artist considered by critics to be one of the last great interpreters of the Venetian vedute tradition. The work depicts the Grand Canal wrapped in a delicate luminous atmosphere, where the water becomes the true protagonist of the composition, reflecting architectures, boats, and soft chromatic nuances.
With an essential yet highly evocative painting, Lazzari manages to capture the most authentic soul of Venice. The forms seem to emerge from light and the lagoonal mist, creating a deep poetic depth and giving the scene a suspended, timeless character.
The work is executed with mixed technique—acrylic and tempera on canvas—and is titled "Grand Canal," as noted on the back by the artist. The composition perfectly represents the most appreciated body of Lazzari’s work, famous for his Venetian views present in private collections in Italy and abroad.
