Jagdgesellschaft, Reiter in roten Röcken is an original oil on canvas by a German school artist signed 'J. A. Herrmann', dated 1970, in the Realismus style depicting nature, with dimensions 50.5 × 100.5 cm and unframed.
Description from the seller
Hunting Party – Riders in Red Skirts at the Edge of the Forest
Oil on canvas, signed “J. A. Herrmann”, Berlin, 1960s–1980s
WORK
Five riders in red skirts and black caps on brown horses and a gray horse gather on a sandy path among autumn-red heather; to the left a dense tree group, to the right birches, beyond a wide plain under a cloudy sky. Thickly impastoed and painted, with strong highlights in the path and in the clouds – a decorative hunt scene in the English style, as is common in Berlin painting houses after the war.
On the panel frame the stamp reads “Gemäldehaus am Moritzplatz, Karl Gratz, 1 Berlin 61, Oranienstraße 46” – the postal district form “1 Berlin 61” dates the deal to before 1993.
Technique: Oil on canvas, on a wooden stretcher
Image size: 50.5 x 100.5 cm, stretcher depth 1.8 cm
Weight: approx. 1.3 kg
Signature: bottom right in dark paint “J. A. Herrmann”. Verso: dealer stamp on the stretcher (see photo), otherwise no designation.
CONDITION
Very good condition. Paint layer intact, impasto, no cracks or defects recognizable. Canvas taut, edges with traces of paint. Not cleaned, not restored.
FRAME AND HANGING
Unframed – the painting is delivered on the stretcher, without a frame. No hanging hardware mounted.
SHIPPING
Shipping on the stretcher, corners and surface protected. Pickup in Helmstedt possible.
