Sculpture, Solarwheel – A Unique Handmade Geometric Steel Sculpture - 53 cm - Steel - 2026

Solarwheel – Handmade geometric steel sculpture

Solarwheel is a contemporary geometric steel sculpture, designed and handmade by Dutch artist Tom Smit. The artwork is characterized by a distinctive circular composition, built from individually placed rectangular steel tubes. These shapes create a fascinating interplay of movement, rhythm and open space.

Inspired by the energy and movement of the sun, Solarwheel combines powerful geometric forms with a dynamic, almost twisting appearance. The open core and carefully positioned steel elements create a striking visual effect that changes from every viewing angle.

The sculpture is completely handmade from steel and finished with a characteristic natural rust patina. The warm orange-brown tones and dark accents form a beautiful contrast with the clean geometric lines. This gives the artwork a robust yet refined and modern appearance.

The sculpture stands on a sturdy steel base plate, which provides stability without compromising the minimalist design.

Solarwheel is suitable for both indoors and outdoors and makes a striking centerpiece in modern gardens, on terraces, in exclusive outdoor spaces and in contemporary interiors.

Authenticity and craftsmanship

Solarwheel is an original design by Tom Smit and is fully handcrafted in his workshop in the Netherlands.

Every sculpture is carefully assembled, welded and individually finished. Small variations in the steel structure, welding seams and natural rust patina emphasize the artisanal character of the artwork.

As a result, each piece has its own look.

Shipping

The sculpture is carefully packaged to prevent damage during transport. Shipping is done with Track & Trace, so the buyer can follow the order.

Important information about the rust finish:

The artwork features a natural rust patina. Upon exposure to rain or moisture, rust may transfer onto sensitive surfaces, such as tiles, concrete and natural stone. For placement in the garden we therefore recommend a substrate such as gravel, soil or wood chips.
