René Hamiot presents Le thé, a 1950 oil on wood still life, 54 × 45 cm, in excellent condition, sold with frame, original edition, from France in a post‑impressionist style.
Description from the seller
Charming oil painting on wood depicting an intimate table scene. Signed on the back of the painting.
This still life features a white teapot, a teacup on its saucer, a large decorated bowl and a footed glass coupe.
The work stands out for its superb impasto technique, where the painting matter is generously applied in thick, textured layers, magnificently catching the light. The artist, René Hamiot, frees himself from strict contours to favor the spontaneity of the brushwork and the vibration of volumes.
fully aligning with the post-Impressionist style of the second half of the 20th century.
René Hamiot (1912-1975) is a French painter of the Modern School. Close to Aristide Maillol, of whom he was a pupil, and influenced by Vuillard and Bonnard, he moved among the artists of the Sanzistes group (Cottavoz, Truphémus).
