Background information about the artist:
Jozef Hoemaeker trained at the Sint-Lucasinstitut in Ghent and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he was awarded three first prizes. He studied for a full ten years under the celebrated master Isidore Opsomer, which is clearly evident in his strong sense of composition, restrained color usage and psychological depth. In his tranquil body of work, the human figure always remained central. Works by his hand are in international demand and cherished by connoisseurs of the Belgian modern art school.
