BIOGRAPHY OF ALBERTO GISBERT SIURANA
He was born in Castellar-Oliveral (Valencia) on September 19, 1923. He was a pupil of painter José Marced Furió.
He studied at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia, from 1940 to 1944.
After leaving the School of Fine Arts, he spent several years making reproductions of masterworks by Velázquez, Goya, Rubens and Murillo, among others.
He also spent several years combining reproductions with ceramic painting and painting cinema posters.
He has carried out various restorations on religious subjects, in the lateral domes of the Parish of Our Lady of Lepanto in Castellar (Valencia), as well as the creation of two six-square-meter murals on the sides of the Main Altar of the same parish, and also a reproduction in the Tabernacle of the Main Altar of El Salvador by Juan de Juanes, and an icon of the Virgin of Perpetual Help on a side altar.
In the church of Saint Martin de Porres in El Oliveral (Valencia), he has created a twelve-square-meter mural on a religious theme of Jesus and his apostles, for the Communion Chapel, and also a six-square-meter canvas of the Virgin of the Rosary located on the right aisle of the church.
Furthermore, Alberto Gisbert has held numerous exhibitions of his works in eminent art galleries in Valencia and Madrid, among others.
He has balanced his devotion to painting with a job as a charcoal photo retoucher in his own studio. Due to vision and back problems associated with this work, he was forced to retire from this profession, but he never abandoned painting, his true vocation. Not surprisingly, Alberto Gisbert demonstrated his passion for painting up to the very moment of his passing at the age of 86, on July 12, 2009, when an unfinished still life remained in his studio.
